How do I borrow a book from another institution?

Answer

To borrow a print book: Students, classified professionals, and faculty of SDCCD* can use their ID cards to check out and request physical items from our sister colleges in our district: San Diego Miramar College and San Diego Mesa College. You can go to Mesa or Miramar yourself to retrieve an item, or use interlibrary loan. Items requested through interlibrary loan will be sent from the other library through campus mail to the Circulation Center desk at SDCC Library. You will be notified when you can pick up the items from there.

To access an electronic book: Access to e-books owned by one of our sister colleges is only allowed if you are also currently enrolled or teaching at that sister college.

Other options: There are many other libraries within San Diego County, such as San Diego Public Library, SDSU library, UCSD libraries, and many more. Each institution has their own policy for checkout and access, so please check with them before attempting to go to a particular library. See the link below for a list of area libraries (including Mesa and Miramar colleges) and links to local library consortia (the San Diego Circuit and LINK+).

*College of Continuing Education non-credit students, faculty, and staff do not have borrowing privileges.
